This flight is operated by Air India under its own code with flight numbers AI/489 and AI/490. This flight is in addition to the existing morning service the national carrier operates under code sharing agreement with its subsidiary Alliance Air DBA Air India regional. The main attraction is the fixed fare of Rs.4,500 in both directions.
With the introduction of this new service from October 1, 2015, Surat will be connected to the national capital every evening. In fact it will have a pair of connections (morning and evening) daily except Thursday. Considering that other private carriers poach for passengers from Surat Airport and divert them to other nearby airports due to excessive supply over demand at other airports, the national carrier has fixed a fare of Rs.4,500 for the first 118 seats rather than a dynamic fare system offered on other sectors. This will prevent flyers from Surat patronizing other airports for paltry savings. This arrangement was made possible due to financial commitments arranged by the elected representatives through business houses in Surat.
Surat is now more easily accessible to the world.
